Individual Counseling

There are times in all of our lives when problems arise.  Some are easily managed and others are not.  Individual therapy involves working on a one-on-one basis with a therapist to plan and to create positive changes in your life.

People come for therapy for a number of different reasons including treatment for depression, anxiety, dissatisfaction with life, resolving past trauma, feelings of emptiness, abuse and stress management.

Additionally, ongoing therapy is a common and useful means for self-growth.  Therapy can assist you in resolving barriers that interfere with positive qualities, such as joy, compassion, peace, self-esteem and love.

These sessions may focus on current or past problems, experiences, thoughts, feelings or relationships.  Therapy may involve learning new skills, trying out new behaviors, working through old issues, or letting go of behaviors that no longer serve health or well-being.

Regardless of your reason for therapy, our therapists will work with you to collaboratively establish personal goals taking into consideration the emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of your life.

Couples Counseling

All relationships go through peaks and valleys and there are times when couples experience major disconnect.

Couples therapy is designed to help you work through relationship problems and create emotional closeness.  We help understand the emotional needs of each partner, meet each other’s need, and learn tools to negotiate differences, problem solve and work through conflict in a healthier way to gain and maintain a deeper level of intimacy and closeness.

Common problems include betrayal, managing anger, sex, money, raising children and various life transitions.

The therapist works to provide a safe environment where issues can be voiced, discussed and resolved.

Child Counseling

It is common for children to experience problems as they grow and mature.  They encounter struggles with parents, peers and teachers, as well as the natural pressures of growing up and fitting in.  At times, a child’s response to life pressures or the severity of these pressures warrants professional attention.  Our child therapists possess specialized knowledge and skills enabling them to formulate appropriate interventions for your child.

Parental involvement is crucial and required for every child’s treatment.  Our experienced therapists believe that early intervention is critical to gifting our children with the necessary skills to meet the challenges of life.

Family Counseling

Creating and sustaining stability and harmony is the goal for most families.  Families are viewed as a unit that maintains and reinforces emotional and behavioral patterns.  Family therapy can assist in resolving conflict, improving communication, and finding ways to problem solve together.

When families respond to each other’s emotional needs, respect differences and work through difficult feelings, families become stronger.  Families attend therapy for a variety of reasons: communication breakdown, divorce, substance abuse, blended families, teen or child issues, grief/loss, aging parents and much more.  Family therapy is an opportunity to understand your family’s perspective and to create compassion and empathy towards each other.

Short-term Crisis Counseling

When a crisis hits, it can make things harder and overwhelming. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and feelings of distress are common impacts and normal responses in times like these, when we are enduring the COVID-19 pandemic. Brief support can make a huge difference in having someone help you navigate through intense feelings and stressors. NCC offers such support with Short-term Crisis Counseling. This counseling is designed as an immediate and limited (4-8 sessions) form of care to support stabilizing, coping skills, and relief. There is an option to continue longer, if you choose.

NCC can bill most insurance companies and we offer a sliding scale fee that is designed to meet all financial situations whether high deductibles/copays or no insurance. We believe professional mental health care is a right and not a privilege.
